Smyrna Bulldogs Varsity Downs Blackman, 4-2

Smyrna Bulldogs Varsity defeated Blackman 4-2 on Tuesday.
After Blackman scored one run in the top of the third, Smyrna Bulldogs Varsity answered with one of their own. Blackman scored when Kalei Harding homered off of Kaitlin Higgins, driving in one run. Smyrna Bulldogs Varsity then answered when a runner stole home.
Smyrna Bulldogs Varsity took the lead for good with three runs in the second inning. In the second Caitlyn Manus walked Lexie Harper to drive in a run, Katie Killen singled off of Manus, driving in one run, and Hannah Ward singled off of Manus, driving in one run.
Higgins earned the win for Smyrna Bulldogs Varsity. She tossed four innings, allowing two runs, six hits, striking out one, and walking one. Manus took the loss for Blackman. She went four innings, allowing four runs, five hits, and striking out two.
Home runs for Blackman came when Harding homered in the third inning and Ashlynn Hamby homered in the second inning.
Cheyanne Scarlett, Katie Goar, Ward, Killen, and Makayla Fleming each managed one hit to lead Smyrna Bulldogs Varsity. Smyrna Bulldogs Varsity was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Harper made the most plays with four.
Blackman collected seven hits. Hamby and Harding each collected multiple hits for Blackman. Blackman was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Rachel Tarpley had the most chances in the field with three.
