LA VERGNE — Smyrna has gone predominately with seniors Zereoue Johnson and Mikel Hartfield in the backfield.

But junior Jamir Eaton made his presence known Thursday night against rival La Vergne, rushing for 79 yards on just six carries, including a 54-yard touchdown run in the 33-14 win over the Wolverines.

“I’ve just waited on my time to shine,” said the 5-foot-9, 155-pound Eaton, who also starts at free safety and had an interception in the win. “(Coaches) said to wait patiently and I would get it.
