Tony Trumphour’s path to becoming a high school swimming coach was not a conventional one.

But 32 years later, the Smyrna High coach is still loving every minute of the job that was, in some ways, thrown in his lap. At 67, he has no plans on retiring soon.

“When you’ve got something good, and I’m not talking about wins and losses, why give it up if you love to do it?” said Trumphour, who is one of the longest tenured swim coaches in Tennessee.
