Boys Varsity Baseball · Varner’s Walk-off Gives Smyrna Baseball Victory Over Gallatin

Smyrna Bulldogs Varsity seized victory in dramatic walk-off fashion, thanks to a walk-off single at the end of the game to topple Gallatin. Smyrna Bulldogs Varsity trailed 3-2 in the bottom of the seventh inning when Brett Varner singled on a 3-2 count, scoring two runs.

In the second inning, Gallatin got their offense started when #7 singled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run.

Tyler Caldwell led things off on the hill for Smyrna Bulldogs Varsity. He allowed three hits and one run over three innings, striking out two and walking one.

#10 was on the hill for Gallatin. He went six and two-thirds innings, allowing four runs on seven hits and striking out seven.

Drew Horn went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Smyrna Bulldogs Varsity in hits.

#3 led Gallatin with two hits in four at bats. Gallatin was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. #20 had the most chances in the field with five.
