Smyrna alum Hannah Potter grew up a Titans fan. Her brother, Elijah, is on their grounds crew.
But her allegiance has shifted within the division — at least for the time being.
A football manager for four years at Smyrna and then for four more years at Western Kentucky, Potter has landed an internship with the Indianapolis Colts.
While the internship is for the Colts’ training camp, she hopes it leads to bigger things.
“Going to the NFL is a big deal for me,” said Potter, a 2016 Smyrna graduate and 2020 WKU graduate. “(Making a career in sports) is definitely a thought that has gone through my mind. I’ve become more passionate about it. It’s something you want to keep doing.”
Her internship will consist of working with the equipment staff in Indianapolis, starting the second week of July.
“I don’t think they would just throw us out there,” Potter said. “We’ll be on our own a little bit. I’ll definitely have projects and be responsible for certain roles each day.”
The role will be similar to what she did at Western Kentucky. There, she was responsible for the entire locker room while maintaining players’ jerseys, shoulder pads and helmets, which needed to be cleaned and labeled with decals.
