Varsity Football · DNJ Story: Area high school football schedules need adjusting after Metro Nashville teams’ season delayed

Metro Nashville schools’ decision to delay the start of their teams’ high school football season until at least after Labor Day has forced some Rutherford County teams to scramble to adjust schedules.

Smyrna, Stewarts Creek and La Vergne have Region 5-6A games scheduled in the first three weeks, which would be before Metro teams would be allowed to begin, as it stands now. The Bulldogs also have a Week 1 non-region contest against East Nashville.

Region games that would be affected include a Week 2 contest involving Stewarts Creek at Antioch (Aug. 28) and Week 3 contests involving Antioch at La Vergne and Overton at Smyrna (Sept. 4).
