Friday’s game against Warren County was a heartbreaker for the baseball team, as they lost the lead late in a 15-5 defeat.
A 3 run 4th inning gave the Bulldogs the lead entering the 5th, but they could not make it stick. The game was tied at three with Warren County batting in the top of the fifth when Ty Martin drew a walk, scoring one run.
Smyrna Bulldogs Varsity put up three runs in the fourth inning. Drew Horn and TJ Sims all drove in runs in the frame.
Eli Kuykevdall got the win for Warren County. The ace allowed five hits and three runs over three and a third innings, striking out three. #21 threw two and two-thirds innings in relief out of the bullpen.
Bryson Letender took the loss for Smyrna Bulldogs Varsity. The pitcher went four and two-thirds innings, allowing six runs on five hits and striking out four.
Landon Rhyne led Smyrna with two hits in four at bats.
Warren County scattered nine hits in the game. Braden Bottoms and Weston Wilson all managed multiple hits for the Pioneers. WCHS stole seven bases during the game as two players stole more than one. Wyatt Wilson led the way with two. Warren County didn’t commit a single error in the field. Bottoms had the most chances in the field with eight.
