Baseball watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in an 11-0 loss to Brentwood on Thursday. Brentwood took the lead on a sacrifice fly in the first inning.
The Bulldogs struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively.
Brentwood got things moving in the first inning, when Barley’s sac fly scored a run.
One bright spot for Smyrna was a single by Jordan Gardner in the third.
Dellgati got the start for Brentwood high. The fireballer lasted five and two-thirds innings, allowing two hits and zero runs while striking out five and walking one.
Alex Harrison was on the hill for the Bulldogs, he went three and two-thirds innings, allowing seven runs on four hits and striking out three. Brett Varner and Braden King entered the game from the bullpen, throwing two and a third innings and one inning respectively.
Donovan Peebles, TJ Sims, and Gardner each collected one hit for Smyrna.
Brentwood high collected ten hits on the day. S Billington and Sparks each had multiple hits for Brentwood. Billington led Brentwood high with three hits in three at bats.
