Lily Soverns shut down Oakland, throwing a complete game shutout and leading Smyrna Bulldogs Varsity to a 7-0 victory on Monday

Smyrna Bulldogs Varsity got things moving in the first inning, when Makayla Fleming singled on a 1-1 count, scoring two runs.

One bright spot for Oakland was a single by Ashlee Jacoway in the second inning.

Soverns pitched Smyrna Bulldogs Varsity to victory. She went seven innings, allowing zero runs on four hits, striking out four and walking one.

Christyne Ward took the loss for Oakland. She allowed five hits and five runs over one inning, striking out one.

Smyrna Bulldogs Varsity scattered 12 hits in the game. Hannah Ward, Katie Killen, Lexie Harper, and Katie Goar all collected multiple hits for Smyrna Bulldogs Varsity. Goar, Harper, Killen, and Ward each managed two hits to lead Smyrna Bulldogs Varsity. Smyrna Bulldogs Varsity didn’t commit a single error in the field. Killen had the most chances in the field with six.
