Riley Gray didn’t allow a single run against Stewarts Creek on the way to a complete game shutout with a 1-0 victory Tuesday night.
The pitching was strong on both sides. Gray struck out six, while Grace Fujino sat down two for the Hawks.
Smyrna got on the board in the second inning when Kennadee Lawrence’s sac fly scored one run.
A single by Hannah McMeen in the first inning was the lone positive for the Lady Hawks early on.
Gray earned the win for Smyrna Bulldogs Varsity. The pitcher lasted seven innings, allowing five hits and zero runs while striking out six.
Fujino took the loss for Stewarts Creek. The hurler went six innings, allowing one run on three hits and striking out two.
Jayla Edmondson, Lyssi Drayton, and Azaria Jones each collected one hit to lead Smyrna.
Callie Watkins and McMeen all had multiple hits for Stewarts Creek. The Lady Hawks Varsity didn’t commit a single error in the field. Kadin Shattles had six chances in the field, the most on the team.
